Morley's Final Catalogue: Somewhat local, but often in the utmost profusion in marshes. Hacheston; Battisford; Aldeburgh, Beccles (Mr) Bungay (Mn), Shipmeadow in 1933 (Mly). Common at Brandon staunch in June 2010 (Elliott) and always in Barton Mills marshes; Mildenhall and Tuddenham Fenn (Sparke). Not noted from Ipswich.
Recent Suffolk Status: Probably extinct as a breeding species in the county with no known populations. More recent records are thought to be migrants or wanderers, being close to the coast.
Life history: Single-brooded. Adults readily disturbed from the sward by day as well as coming to light.
Identification: No similar species in the county.
Habitat: Chalky grassland and wet meadows.
